Who Can Refer Patients To CHCI
Patients can be referred to CHCI by cardiologists, pulmonologists, Family Practice and Internal Medicine specialists. Just call or fax a cardiac PET scan request form (see below) to CHCI. This will initiate medical insurance authorization and we will request a patient history from your office.
All patients’ myocardial perfusion imaging reports and/or viability reports will be forwarded to the referring physicians. CHCI will be available to answer any subsequent or follow-up questions concerning these results. Any subsequent studies or procedures will be up to the discretion of the referring physicians. CHCI can only respond to requests for myocardial perfusion studies and/or viability studies since these are the only tests that we are equipped to perform.
Positron’s rapid segmented attenuation correction scanning allows for scan times competitive to that of PET/CT. Positron’s segment scan times are approximately 3-5 minutes depending on patient BMI (body mass index). Consequently, the Attrius scanner reduces scan time and patient exposure because there is no source of radiation from the system except for a brief correction scan and the extremely short half-life of the radioactive material, Rubidium-82, injected into the patient to accomplish myocardial uptake.
